Dodge / Cummins

89-93.5 1st Gen 12v 5.9 with Bosch rotary pump This vehicle requires no special consideration.
98.5-02 1st Gen 24valve VP44 pump The VP44 Injection pump has been plagued with problems, most failures are caused by lift pump failure resulting in IP damage. We advise that if you wish to convert this engine you use a very high quality pump for the VO and install a fuel pressure alarm which alerts the driver if IP inlet pressure drops below 5 psi. 93.5-98.5 2nd Gen 12valve with Bosch in-line pump - does not need additional pump. Probably the best Cummins engine. No special requirements, stock lift pump can be used for both VO and Diesel. Basic kit will work.
2003 and up 2nd Generation 24valve hp common rail This vehicle requires a specific "kit" with an additional fuel pump.
The terms "2nd Generation and 3rd Generation" are commonly used to describe the body style. In the above chart we are referring to the "generations" of the motor design. For reference the body styles are as follows: 93.5 - 2002 = 2nd Generation, 2003 > = 3rd Generation.
