View Full Version : "Hanoi Jane" using a VO-powered bus

Just thought you'd be interested in her upcoming anti-war tour, which is supposed to be on a vegetable oil powered bus.

http://apnews.myway.com/article/20050725/D8BIE6HO0.html

That will be a great bit of PR for the company providing the vehicle technology. Chris, are you involved or is it a competitor?

Ha...I'm suprised that even made a news blurb. "Hanoi Jane Opposes War." Chalk that one up to the "Duh!" headlines hall of fame :-)

Although it would definitely be PR to have a VO system in her bus, I think advertising or promoting that fact could really politicize a business. While it would definitely draw attention to the business from anti-war supporters, lots of vets, their families and their supporters have very strong feelings regarding her. And I don't mean they have a crush on her ;)

I will happily donate 100 gallons of slightly filtered, heavily watered WVO to her efforts if she comes through my way. As long as she gets stranded on the bus, in the FL summer sunshine... preferably somewhere near a VFW location!

Apparantely she isnt real concerned if she is going to wait until March to even protest it.

Maybe she waited until the polls started showing that 51% of Americans thought we shouldn't have gone into Iraq. Prior to the last few months, independent polls showed the invasion had majority approval from the country (depending on how the question was worded of course.)

Maybe I'm too cynical. Maybe I'm wrong and polls had nothing to do with the timing of her anti-war campaign.

Ha. Yea right. :-)

I guess she couldn't find an Iraqi anti-aircraft gun to pose on. They were all destroyed by overwelming firepower or are war trophies on US military installations. She might have a problem getting access to those since there are stll a few of us Vietnam era veterans in this fight. Maybe Aljazerra will let her make some anti-war propaganda statements to broadcast to our soldiers. She reminds me of an aging rock star reliving the stupidity of her wasted youth. I bet her daddy (a true American icon) is real proud of her.

Isn't it an extraordinary coincidence that this announcement of the upcoming veggie-peace tour and the resulting publicity comes at the same time she is releasing a book??

And I had just about convinced most of my friends that WVO is good. Got to start all over again.

I mentioned this to a Vietnam Vet here at work.

The next day he brought in a Shirt with a picture of Jane Fonda dong (Cannot be written on a family web site) The inscription was

Jane "Hanoi" Fonda-America's Traitor Bitch"

Hopefully the Veggie Industry does not get "Splashed" with the negative feelings old "Hanoi" Jane is bound to cause

well im inclined to groan about it but who cares. i mean i have my own very good reasons for using veggie. itll never be a big thing and id hate to see it get too big anyways. but more to the point im not on this planet to change anyones mind about grease so the idea of a traitor burning grease on a bus is a non issue for me.

It's making the blog rounds, including by association the negative references to VO. Talk about bad PR for VO.

Every article published just says Vegetable Oil - and I've dug around a little looking for the answer to your question. Perhaps she bought Dana's plans and did the conversion herself!

Eww... She's old enough to be your mother. And I doubt she fills out the outfit like she used to (35 years ago...). Some people are into the granny types... I guess if that's what you are in to...

Pete - welcome back! Yer a sick man too...

Yeah, after all defying the UN security council for over a decade and cheating/stealing his own people for billions through he Oil for Food program doesn't justify action. Certainly France and Russia didn't think so. Oh wait, weren't a bunch of their top government officals found to have "allocations" of millions of barrels of oil, granted by Saddam? It seems the Senate said that Vladimir Zhirinovsky profited a cool $8,679,000 from his "allocations." (http://hsgac.senate.gov/_files/PSIVladimirZhirinovskyReport.pdf) Charles Pasqua (French official) picked up a cool 11 million barrels. His assistant picked up 5 million barrels. (http://hsgac.senate.gov/_files/PSIREPORTPasquaGalloway.pdf) Didn't Saddam also owe their countries billions for military equipment? If Saddam were to be toppled, they could kiss those billions goodbye. No self-interest there. And routinely launching SAMs at US jets patrolling the UN-mandated No Fly Zone isn't any big deal. Because everyone knows the UN is a joke...Iran obviously thinks so :-)

I can hear the hornet's nest starting to stir.. :-)

Not from me - but we should take this thread over to the political discussions now that it has been hijacked! Actually, it probably should have started there seeing as Hanoi Jane was the topic. Nice job on the homework though... A waste of time, I'm afraid - the "Michael Moore Team" won't believe it no matter what.

Regardless of her political bent it's good for the V.O. community. As the old saying goes "any press is good press". Anyone who would claim that because an anti-Iraq War protester uses vegetable oil as a fuel, then V.O. is bad ought to stop breathing because Ms. Fonda also respires by breathing air. Further she sleeps laying down and is known to brush her teeth.

If it's any consolation to the war-mongers out there, the U.S. military is looking into running on biodiesel/ V.O. as well and has already commited to phasing out gasoline engines in favor of diesels. In addition, all pro-war folks are unanimous in their promotion of humans breathing air.

Ok, Diesel Burps, you just inspired me to make a silly point...

I get the sense that because Jane is rather liberal, somehow that qualifies her as not attractive.

Well, ponder this. Would you have a preference over seeing Micahel Moore slicked down in vegetable oil or Jane Fonda in vegetable oil? Would their leftist leaning make them equal in your eyes? Personally, I think I'd rather see Jane no matter what my beliefs were.

Sort of like making the same comparison between Rush Limbaugh and Brittney Spears (that's the closest I can think of as far as a "neo-con beauty goes," and no, Anne Colture doesn't count (more of a soccer mom than a beauty)). They're both conservative, yet somehow I think I'd like to view a shiney Brittney rather than a shiney Limbaugh.

What's my point, I don't know, but I do know this:
http://www.pbase.com/sdukes/image/26254445

...i.e., Choose and use your vegetable oil wisely.

If this didn't make any sense it was on purpose. Everybody have a good weekend.

Pete.

No, no, no... Politics aside - she's a fossil. She was a hot old babe about 20 years ago. ~35 years ago she was a treasonous bitch that should have spent some time in the captivity of the North Vietnamese being abused on a daily basis, but still a knockout.

Ok, I'll spell it out for you. She'll be 70 in 2 years. Robbing the cradle is one thing, but robbing the grave is another. How many senile centers have restraining orders on you?

Keep away from my grandmother! I know she's only been dead for ~10 years now, but still... Take her off of your "eligible list"!

Chris,

That was almost 40 years ago now. If we are going back that far, Ursula Andress was far, far better.

I've got this mental image of you on an island - with the little old lady from the Wendy's commercials from years ago - chasing you around the single palm tree, yelling "Where's the beef?"

Granny porn... I guess that's better than the bit with the buffalo... somehow...

And I thought I'd already seen some LMFAO humor on this board!!

I just happened accross this thread, and decided to "bump" it just so that some of the newer members on the board could see it!!!!!

Tonite I know I'll sit bolt upright in a cold sweat thinking of granny in a Barbarella costume chasing CG around a palm tree yelling "Where's the BEEF?"

But I'm falling off my chair now!!

The first time I saw boobs on the big screen was "Barberella". Until the anti-war thing she was one of my favorite wet dreams. If something comes on the idiot box with her in it now I switch it off. I will never forgive her treasonous actions during the Vietnam war. The names of several soldiers I went through basic training with (1972) are on a black wall in Washington, DC thanks to the people she gave aid and comfort to. God may forgive her but I doubt many veterans will, her piss poor attempts at apologies not withstanding.

I used to get angry at celebrities for all the BS "causes" they would take up from protesting fur/meat/animal testing, to the Vietnam war, to trying to get scumbag murderers out of prison (Joanne Chesimard, Mumia Abu Jamal, etc...) but it's just a waste of time and energy. Hollywood actors aren't even real people after a while, they're just lab rats in a cage who will say whatever will get them time in front of a camera. They believe in nothing and think nothing, they just do whatever their handlers tell them to do. It's the same thing with all the marriages-you can't honestly tell me that all the marriages, divorces, hook ups, break ups, and everything else aren't just carefully engineered P.R. stunts. No one in Hollywood "loves" anyone that they marry, they have no capacity to love because they're just hollow empty people who pretend for a living. Don't get me wrong, their movies and tv shows entertain me, but as far as I'm concerned, whatever comes out of their mouths (onscreen or not) is nothing more than a carefully scripted act.
No matter how off the deep end any one actor gets if they entertain me I'll still watch, I care very little about what they say because it's nothing more than a show.

I did not mean to be insensitive to the way many feel about her. I was only talking about the last few posts where the comedy started. Wreckerman I honor your fallen friends who gave their lives that I and my family might be free, even in spite of the fact that many disagreed with why they were there.

And Badfish, what you said about celebs reminds me of how well that very situation is parodied in "Team America - World Police"!! Now THERE'S a STUPID movie, but the things it pokes fun at so truly do reflect much of our society, that it strikes the bullseye. Especially the parody of Alec Baldwin. That parody of him is exactly the way you described celebs!!

I'm in solid agreement.

However, it's the checkout stand "People" reading "BBW" (eww) soccer moms that I'm afraid are listing to her silly rot!
