View Full Version : The New Improved Battery Boy
GREASE SHEIKH

Hey, listen to what Battery Boy said the other day, in response to some concerns posted about him the in the greasecar forum:
"Your comments are most appreciated-, I must mellow out on the vulgar stuff and you were more helpfull than paying a 100.00 per hour shrink. If you ever come out to this part of the USA I will be sure to load ur car/truck with 50 plus gallons of WVO and some beer for the ride back. Like u said bitterness is not a virtue. Actually I just stuck it out there since she had just left for germany and it was fresh on my mind. I am generally not a person to use vulgarity on a daily basis but perhaps due to the aninomity of an internet forum had made me careless since i never get to see any of u in person.
I will strive to clean up my act and be more mature as I truely enjoy greasin and hope i haven't turned off a great number of people to the veggie cruzin realm. "
He seems really sincere this time - should he be cordially invited to participate in this forum? He's probably not a bad fellow. :)

i'm betting he's not a bad guy. I would love to go to a pub with him and kick a few back, heck he sems like such a fun guy that i would even kick back on some milk crates playing cards while sipping on 40's of OE. http://www.mercedesshop.com/shopforum/images/new_smilies/beerchug.gif

One of the first posts invited him as long as he could control himself, if not he would be banned and no longer allowed to post. Personally I am happy to have left him behind. My wife has a Masters in Psyc, my father was a clinical Psyc and I have spent a great deal of my life making efforts not to associate with people seeking therapy through association. If he wants to work on his inner child great, I am sure there is a forum for this, this however is a forum for discussion of VO as a fuel, not a place to make offers of trading intercourse with peoples sisters in exchange for WVO, nor a place to be a bigot, sexist, racist or a general tit. That said, he is welcome as long as he brings some manners.

My vote. Let him play. I think it's pretty easy to be misunderstood in a setting like this. Have you noticed though, that almost all of his responses are apologies. We are a very different group of people, as I am slowly realizing. It's hard to figure people out when you only see their typed words, and it's really easy to offend someone when they don't know who you are. At least in this forum if something is said that could easily offend somebody else, there is a responsible overseer to make sure that it doesn't happen again. Keep it veggie and keep it clean, not to say I live by those rules all the time, but when it's on a public forum such as this, a little consideration goes a long way. Thats just my vote.

Frankly, I left that forum because I can not stand to read such vulgarity, mostly from Batter Boy. Yes he may have some problems. I can pray for him but I don't have to listen (read) to him.

Frankly, I don't think that I should have a say as to whether someone else is permitted on this forum unless the person violates the rules of the forum. He's never been here so he hasn't violated the rules.
BB has a lot of experience in alt. fuels. He has been vulgar at Greasecar, but has not done anything to violate the rules of THIS forum, not even over there at Greasecar.
No one needs to read posts by anyone else- each post is clearly labeled with an author. I would suggest that before people get banned out of hand, a little personal filtering should be tried, i.e. Kansas Diesel- you're absolutely right, you DON'T have to read his posts, just skip right over them.
If this were about racist or sexist comments I would agree. Failing that, show some compassion.

I was not saying to ban him, I haven't seen him here anyway, I just stated that I left that forum due to the overall vulgarity, mainly from him.
People change, And if he has it will show. If he hasn't and it is tolirated here I will leave this forum. Forums are for the information and to get together with people of common interest which can be accomplished without vulgarity.

to date 149 people have read this thread making it the 10th most popular thread, more than have read the "Best heaters and filter for engine? (http://www.frybrid.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123) " thread...Is battery boy a celebrity? Can offending everyone really garner that much attention?
Go to Greasecar and read his replies regarding African Americans using grease and tell me things have changed. One can not learn social skills overnight.

Before we start throwing the race card around..Lets look at how that thread started. The thread TITLE is "Are there many black greasers out there?". Now this in itself isn't a bad thing but why bring up an ethnic question at all? Next to catch my eye was "So i am reading through all this here and wonder if there are a lot of black folks doing this, or is it mostly a white boy thang? ". Black folks is fine but why must I be called a "white BOY"? Now, lets not even get started on the slang. If we are to make everything the same for all people then we need to make sure that applies in EVERY direction. I'm not in support of BB nor do I dissaprove of him, I have never been to that board and have never read any of his posts untill now.

people like gossip. even if they dont admit it, most people crave to hear about someone elses situation. thats why all those gossip shows and magazines sell like hot cakes (or hookers http://www.mercedesshop.com/shopforum/images/new_smilies/pimp.gif if you dont mind vulgarity) at a truck stop.

To his credit, Battery Boy didn't start the ethnic-slang-speak. He didn't get nasty - he just suffers from excess personality and minimal self-control. I've never seen the guy - I have no idea what race/ethnicity he is - but it would be funny if he wasn't another caucasian like the rest of you.

Will, I think I have the same affliction. I won a freckle contest when i was 6 years old at he county fair. i haven't lived it down since. I always thought that someday my freckles would just blend together and I would look like the rest of the kids in my school, ( I went to a school with a 50% hispanic population). It never did happen. I have learned to live with my polka dot complexion and I have done pretty well with it so far. ( of course I live in a completally fabricated world where I am a super buff, super hero, and I don't even wear spandex) As far as that whole thread on Greascar is concerned, just a whole lot on nonsense in my opinion. The last time I read it , I just cringed... who talks like that. Why is that even a thread on a greasecar forum? It's so Jerry Springer it makes me sad.

"It's so Jerry Springer it makes me sad." could not have said it better myself. However I think you will find that if you wash a little more often, Andrew, those spots will go away, the moving ones will need to be removed with chemicals ;-).
It was his refference to people thinking he was black because he was so greasey, etc. that I found offensive. The phonetic spelling bee I just found sad.
As for race, my degree was in Anthropology. Race means the same to me as seeing different orchids in different climates - The sociology of ethenic groups in the US on the other hand is a subject which could start fires.
You know what all this makes me wonder, ir makes me wonder if you can dewater WVO by just heating it to 150F for a day?

i'll bet you could use some kind of solar heater, and if not for a day at least two. it seems 150 degF would be enough to increase the evaporation rate of water, but would it be enough to bring the water from the bottom of the barrel to the top of the barrel?

Sticking with the topic title AND wvo, dewatering from the heat of an ethnic/race argument would be the fastest IMO. :D

to make it go even faster, you could use an evolution/creation argument next to the ethnic/race argument
