We are on our 4th or 5th tank of veggie oil in a newly converted truck. We broke down just outside of Savannah Georgia. It seems like it might be grease related:
It is hard to start the engine, when it does start; it revs high and fires irregularly. So, it seems like it might be the fuel pump or the maybe the fuel injectors.
Have any of you experienced any thing like this before? Have any thoughts?
Do you know of any grease friendly/knowledgeable shops in the area – we are traveling, and would like to fix the truck ourselves, but we are currently stuck in a hospital parking lot.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be really appreciated!
Thanks.

Spoke with them a few times today... narrowing down the variables.
Looks like either the 6 port valve has gone bad, or there is a short in the wiring for it somewhere.
I had them test it, and sure enough they said it was switching randomly.
If the valve was moving back and forth , or not staying fully in one position, that could reduce fuel flow, and explain power loss.
It also turns out that the valve was in vegoil mode when they turned off the truck, despite the switch being in diesel mode. This explains the inability to start.
*
They have now bypassed all valves, and hooked it back up as normal diesel setup.
I.P. is still still full of veg, and it has gotten quite cold now.
They have a block heater, but no outlet where they are staying.
They are done messing with it for tonight, and will work on clearing the IP tomorrow.

Man was I a nervous wreck, trying to figure something out!
And I had this poster accusing me of trying to 'steal' his master's profits, -barking and bitting at ME ankles! (over yonder, probably a disciple of Lee:-)

Contact Robert Del Bueno, at (404) 219-9709. He owns VegEnergy in Atlanta and hosts the www.atlantabiofuels.org board. Savannah's not too far away. I've never met him, but from what I've heard he's A1.

Wow. You followed my advice as I was giving it?
Actually he offered that information to her yesterday on GC forum and got chewed out today! Oh well, good job.
To be accurate, maybe I got barked at as well.
Anyway, there's a guy who posted yersterday AM on GC forum about his GC setup on MB 300D, just installed, coolant hookup not working right. Nobody helping him, where's their online tech?? Now I'm hesitating about sending anyone somewhere they might find help because I might get barked at again. Strange...

"I just finished running all the lines for the coolant. Thought I would take the car for a ride to make sure the tank, lines, and filter coil were heating up. After driving roughly 20 to 30 miles I still have no heat at the filter coil or the tank in the trunk. I brought the car home and tried everything to bleed these lines to no avail. I took the coolant hose off at the copper coil but the coolant has no pressure will flow out of the hose when pointed down but will not push uphill at all. Ran the car the whole time with the heater on. I cracked the top radiator hose to try to drain the air until only coolant was gushing out then slipped back on radiator. The cars temp reads a solid 80celcius. I unhooked the coolant line back at the tank the next day and got a little bit of coolant out of in not much maybe half a cup .I checked all my hoses and none are kinked or on a very hard bend. Could the water pump be weak? Or did I just need to run the car for a longer time to purge the air? Maybe a bad thermostat? Need some suggestions on this one it is really getting me frustrated. Converted a jetta last summer with no problems in bleeding air from the system. Any help or thoughts will be appreciated. "
Hmmm. Where are the lines connected?
He may want to remove the feed line (left side of head) to the new coolant loop and attach a garden hose, loosen the other end (at pump) and turn the garden hose on, when just water sprays out with NO air tighten the pump side and then reattach the feed side, this should insure that the loop is full.
I have attached some images.
