Some updates:
Turns out the issues with stalling were really running out of VO. Need to calibrate my fuel level sender. Right now it reads 1/4 when empty. Also, unlike my Jetta, no early signs of low fuel. Engine just dies. Wondering if this is related to the 3 valve loop design, or to the lack of an in tank lift pump for diesel. Anyhow, the recent upgrades to the Sprinter are not VO related but RV related. check out my progress here: http://sprinter-source.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13145
