Default Yanmar 2 cyl water cooled diesel for a Generator

I found a Yanmar diesel garden tractor (14 hp, water cooled) for sale and am considering checking it out. I have been wanting a Grease powered generator for some time. I was thinking it shouldn't be to difficult to link it to a generator head and of course convert the motor to run on grease. I was wondering if anyone has any experiance with the Yanmar motors? I don't have any idea if it would be direct or indirect injection but for the asking price it would be a cool project without to much money involved (famous last words).

Default Yanmar

My only experience was a friend bought a similar tractor and spent $7-8,000.00 for something that should have cost $7-800.00

Keep looking. There is another brand of diesel motor that makes a great hook up for generator. It starts with "P". Can't remember. The deal is it runs at slow rpms but puts out real good.

well it sold before I got a chance to see it. Seller was only asking $400.00 but it hadn't been ran in a year. I will just have to keep looking.
