I wonder what type of metal is used in the inside of the filter housing cartridge itself and if it can have a reaction with the WVO.
hhmmmm.

HOLD EVERYTHING!! I repeat HOLD EVERYTHING!!
Just stopped and checked out the mount with a couple of different filters and they will not work properly. I don't have much time for much here as I'm taking the family to the lake, but the way the filter works is it comes with an inner seal the looks a little like the large outer seal, its like a flat o-ring. When you put this on the aluminum mount and screw the filter on the seal never touches the filter. The guy behind the counter even took the outer o-ring off, we put grease on the metal where it should meet the smaller seal, but it never touched. The wix web site says the mount can be used with many different filters including fuel, well something is wrong and I'll be in touch with them. The first thing I noticed about the mount is there isn't much of a sealing surface for the rubber seal. Not impressed with the whole thing. I wonder how many people didn't even bother to look as without this seal there is NOTHING to seal between the two sides of the filter so the fluid gets NO filtration.
This site http://www.fleetfilter.com/Store_Vie...cts.asp?Cat=68
says to use the 33115 filter with the base and thats the filter we just tried and its a NO GO!

Makes me think its time for a large Frybrid filter assembly.

I've been using the 1"-14 filter mounts and am replumbing my stock fuel system to use aftermarket filters, pumps and fuel pressure regulators. This morning I ordered a couple more Wix 24770 remote filter mounts from www.filter1.com and they are $18.22 each, much better than the list price of $35 or so I was quoted at a local auto parts house.

I'm using the 33405 12 micron, water separator for a first filter before the pump and a 33352 6 micron filter after the pump... both on veggie and diesel.

I bought six of each filter plus two remote filter mounts for less than $120 including free shipping (orders over $50). Locally I'd have spent almost $80 on two mounts and another $75 to $100 or more on the filter elements.

I'm going to be buying my Wix filters at www.filter1.com from now on. I can't remember who around here suggested them first but thanks for the tip.

Todd

I have been using the 24770 base with the 2 micron 33528 which I buy from www.filter1.com final filter. I am also planning to add the 33352 or the 33405 before my lift pump in lieu of the clear Fram G3 .

Another economical option might be an Cim-tek aluminum filter head and filters ( 2, 10, 30 micron ) from www.jmesales.com
They also have an aluminum version (National spencer NS20 ) of what looks like the amber Goldenrod 495 cannister filter .
