After waiting for over 6 months for a Frybrid PSD kit - with very little communication and no kit available (in the forseeable future) - I decided to build my own.
Attached are some photos. This is the main component that bolts to the frame. I chose to put it on the driver side just under the rear part of the cab and the front part of the bed. My truck is a 2003 PSD F350, crew cab, dually, FX4. |

I used a 95 gal. RDS "L" shaped tank. I mounted the Davco234+ to the end of the tank. I used a coolant heated "Hot Fox" fuel pickup from VegPower and one of their custom fuel gauge senders that floats up/down in a cylinder instead of using the typical "swing arm" style (not enough room for that style due to tank baffles).

This is a view of some of the wiring for the fuses/relays I used. My fuses/relays are mounted in a waterproof box in the front of the bed near the Davco.

I already had 3 gauges on the pillar (EGT, trans. temp, & boost) so I added a fuel level for the VO tank. I also added 4 gauges above the rear view mirror (water temp, VO/oil temp, vacuum, & fuel/oil pressure). There are 3 switches mounted below the radio (VO Pump, VO Purge, & VO Heat). I'm having a label made for the switch panel at the local trophy shop - should be done soon - they said. I used rocker switches with a small light at the top of each switch - green for VO Pump, red for VO Purge, and yellow for VO Heat. The Davco is 12V heated as well as coolant heated.
Just finished last week. Have about 300 miles so far on VO and have used less than 1 gal. of diesel. Many thanks to all of you that have helped me along. All of the info/advice that is available here is "priceless". Professor |
